The first weekend of March in Baiona celebrates the feast of La Arribada, which commemorates the arrival of Martin Alonso Pinzon in the caravel La Pinta on his return to this city after the discovery of America.
The city goes back hundreds of years to medieval times and people dresses in period costumes, the streets of the old town are lined with stalls with handicrafts, antiques, food and tournaments are held, fencing duels, archery, examples of siege engines, falconry demonstrations, gothic calligraphy and theatrical representation of the arrival of the caravel La Pinta.
